High dose Viagra can alter vision

The  'Viagra'  (sildenafil) is commonly used to treat erectile dysfunction and is safe with limited side effects and little importanes. However, a  study  published in the journal Frontiers in Neurology has highlighted a risk of rare persistent  visual side effects  , such as sensitivity to light and impaired color vision, in men who have taken the  highest dose. recommended discharge  of the drug.

Although these effects appear to be rare, this research suggests that first-time users of 'Viagra' should start with a  lower dose before increasing it , if necessary. Erectile dysfunction can have significant psychological consequences for men who have it, and it can make satisfying sex more difficult to achieve. So its preferable to 비아그라

Sildenafil became available in 1998 as a treatment for erectile dysfunction. It soon became the  fastest-selling drug in  history, demonstrating the high demand for sexual performance-enhancing treatments.

The effects last between 3 and 5 hours

Originally developed as a treatment for high blood pressure, the drug  dilates blood vessels  and relaxes the smooth muscle of the penis,  making it easier to achieve and maintain an erection . Its effects normally last 3 to 5 hours, and although  side effects such  as headaches and blurred vision occasionally occur, they usually  disappear relatively quickly .

However, Dr. Cüneyt Karaarslan, from Dünyagöz Adana Hospital in Turkey, noted a pattern in 17 men who came to the hospital for numerous visual disorders, including  abnormally dilated pupils , blurred vision, sensitivity to light, and  color vision disorders . which included deep blue vision with red / green color blindness.

All 17 patients had taken sildenafil  for the first time , and all took the maximum recommended dose of 100 mg. None of the men had been prescribed the drug. The visual side effects began once the drug took effect, and were still present when the men arrived at the clinic 24-48 hours later.

Mild and temporary effects

Doctors performed various eye tests and monitored the patients over time to see how their symptoms developed. Fortunately, all 17 patients  had symptoms resolved 21 days later .

"Many men use over-the-counter drugs to improve performance and help with sexual anxiety and erectile dysfunction. For the vast majority of men, any side effects will be temporary and mild.

However, I wanted to highlight that  persistent  eye and vision problems can be found in a small number of users, "says Karaarslan.

Medical control

So why were these men susceptible to these long-lasting side effects? It may be possible that a small subsection of the population does not break down sildenafil and remove it from the body efficiently, leading to  very high concentrations in the blood  compared to most users.
